“ESL Pensacola” is a multi-denominational, Christian ministry started in 2011 with the first classes held in January of 2012. Fairfield Presbyterian Church has hosted the ministry from its inception. Since then, the program has continued to grow and flourish, serving students from 41 different countries across the world.

Initial testing is conducted at registration, both written and oral, which determines which of the five levels students are placed in: Basic, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 (Grammar), or Level 4 (Advanced).

We operate an open enrollment system; students can start at any time during the school year. Students generally spend at least one year at each level.
Classes are held every Tuesday evening 6:00-8:00 PM Mid-September through Mid- May. There are a Lead Teacher and a Teaching Assistant in each classroom.

Dinner/Snack is included at every class meeting for the students. This provides important and vital community and fellowship time with students. Special celebrations are held on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Graduation and other holidays. Each student receives a small gift for their Birthday, Christmas and at Graduation. Birthday celebrations in classrooms occur throughout the year.

Currently “ESL Pensacola” is the only free, church-based ESL Program in the Pensacola, Florida area. Classes are free, workbooks are optional for each level and are $35.00 but are not required. Each student also receives a high quality, dual language, often leather-bound Bible in both their native language and in English during initial registration.

ESL Pensacola is a 100% volunteer ministry with 100% of the funding going to program operations. Teachers and volunteers come from a variety of local churches and denominations. Multiple churches and community organizations have partnered with the ministry to provide funding as have many individual donors.

Professional development & training is provided for our teachers. A proven curriculum is used for weekly ESL classes as well as optional ESL Sunday school classes.
